Prevention

The sooner an illness is diagnosed, the more successfully it can be treated.

That's why we support check-ups and preventive measures that a doctor prescribes or carries out. Find out which check-ups are a good idea in your situation.

It is conclusively enlisted in Healthcare Services Regulations provided by EDI (Federal Department of Home Affairs) which examinations’ costs of an early recognition of diseases together with preventive measures from the basic insurance (BASIS) are to be assumed as long as they are executed or prescribed by a doctor.

In addition to the basic insurance KLuG makes contributions to prevention from supplementary insurances PRIMEO, SANA and COMPLETA. Please consult our team of advisors before the treatment. We will willingly provide you every information with regard to the costs which are to be assumed.

To make sure that KLuG assumes costs of your treatment, we suggest you to verify it with our client service  before starting the treatment.

Your health insurance covers the cost of various procedures and examinations
designed to protect your health (preventive healthcare), such as in particular:

  • Various vaccinations in accordance with the guidelines and recommendations
    of the Swiss Vaccination Plan
The compulsory basic health insurance scheme does not cover special travel-related vaccinations or prophylactic medicines required for travel, such as yellow fever vaccination or malaria prophylaxis.
  • Eight examinations to monitor the health and normal development of children of pre-school age.
  • Gynaecological screening examinations (including pap smears): once every three years if the two preceding annual check-ups were normal, otherwise as required.
  • Mammography to detect breast cancer:
digital mammography of the breast (MRI of the breast) for women with a
moderate to high risk of breast cancer based on their or their family’s medical
    history.
  • screening mammography once every two years for women from their 50th
birthday, when the examination is carried out under a cantonal or regional
screening programme that meets certain quality assurance requirements.
  • Screening for cancer of the colon in people aged 50 to 69. Analyses aimed
at detecting the presence of faecal occult blood once every two years
(colonoscopy in the event of positive results) or a colonoscopy every ten years.
